Elisabeth Rivard

Elisabeth (Lizzie) Rivard is a first-year doctoral student studying art of the long eighteenth century under Dr. Douglas Fordham, with a particular focus on Britain. She received a MA through the Graduate Program in the History of Art at Williams College, where she wrote a Qualifying Paper on the draftsmanship and portraiture of George Romney. Her primary interests concern works on paper, especially drawing in artistic practice and identity formation. She has also written on eighteenth-century print culture and decorative arts. Before coming to UVA, she worked in digital media at the Jewish Museum, and held internships at the Clark Art Institute and the New York Public Library. She received her BA in Art History from Northwestern University.
