Artist, writer and teacher Matt Shelton (he/him) received a BFA from Guilford College in 2004 and an MFA in Painting and Printmaking from VCU in 2012. He has exhibited nationally and internationally in solo presentations and in recurrent collaboration with Trinidadian artist Nikolai Noel. His writing has appeared in Burnaway, MONDAY Art Journal, Southern Cultures, Art Papers, Ext.1708, LOOKsee, and the Richmond Arts Review. In 2010 he was the recipient of a VMFA Graduate Fellowship and in 2017 he was a member of the inaugural cohort of the Richmond Critical Art Writers workshop. He lives with his family in Earlysville, Virginia.
